Below, I’ll show the price spread and a few scopes that explain it. You can use them to check whether a quote includes the parts and finish work you want.
What did the jobs cost?
The median was $362.60. The average was much higher at $1,113.57 because this group includes larger work. Thirteen jobs reached $1,000 or more, while 44 were below $500.

What explains the top of the range?
These five examples show different kinds of work within the full sample.

The $15,825 job built a new cedar carport. Its 13-by-17-foot frame stood on concrete footings. The price also covered the roof frame and roofing. It was much more work than a small repair to a cover already in place.
The $10,334 bathroom project included demolition, tile and fixture work, plus added shower lighting. Those totals belong in the research, but neither is a useful budget for one wall patch or one fixture swap.
What if you’ve already bought the fixture?
The customer supplied the new faucet for the $140 kitchen job. The work included taking out the old one, fitting the new one and checking for leaks. It did not include buying the faucet.
The $309 ceiling-fan job also used a supplied fixture, but it needed a new fan-rated support brace. Labor was $280 and the brace kit was $29. Having the fan ready did not remove the need for suitable support.

Does replacing a door include paint?
The $655 job replaced the interior door itself. It kept the existing frame and hardware. Fitting the door was $350, painting was $175 and materials were $130.
A quote that ends with hanging the door would cover less work. Ask whether the new door will be painted and whether the existing frame and hardware will stay. Our door repair page helps you describe the fault before deciding what needs replacement.
