I’m Chance O’Shel, owner of The Smart Fix Handyman. We serve Mesquite, and I put this guide together from a sample of our local work.
Most of the Mesquite jobs in this sample were small visits. One was a broad project with work inside the walls and at the roof frame. I have shown all six so you can see what makes the range so wide.
What these jobs cost
Five of the six Mesquite jobs ranged from $140 to $326.25. The sixth was a much larger project at $6,731.25. Here is every job in the sample.
| Work included | Smart Fix job price |
|---|---|
| Door and window work with wall, roof-frame and exterior repairs | $6,731.25 |
| Repairing cracks in a popcorn-textured ceiling | $295 |
| Fitting and sealing an aluminum cap over exterior trim | $326.25 |
| Front door hinge and latch adjustment | $175 |
| Handyman visit; task not specified | $140 |
| Garbage-disposal work; task details not specified | $150 |

Smart Fix, 6 jobs, January 29 to September 19, 2026. The chart includes the whole price of each job.
That large project raised the average to $1,302.92. The median was $235. The gap comes from the work in this small sample, rather than a single going rate for handyman visits.
Why one project cost $6,731.25
The largest job combined a new exterior door and frame with window work and drywall. It also included fascia and exterior paint work.
There was work behind the finished surfaces, too. The scope called for a temporary support wall and lifting three roof rafters back to level. Materials totaled $1,780 across the project.
That full price belongs with the whole project. Using it as a door replacement price would leave out the window, walls and roof-frame work. If several parts of your home need repair, ask for a quote that spells out each part.
A door that would not close needed adjustment
The $175 front door job kept the existing hardware. The work adjusted the hinges and tuned the latch and strike so they lined up.
That is a useful comparison with the large project’s new door and frame. Start by telling us what the door does: rubs, drags or fails to latch. We can then assess what needs adjustment or replacement through our door repair service.
The number of doors alone will not settle the scope. Keeping a working frame and hardware leaves a different set of tasks from replacing them.
An exterior trim cap is its own type of repair
The $326.25 exterior job fitted a raw aluminum cap over existing trim. The work included fastening and sealing it. It did not describe removing the trim and rebuilding it in wood.
That distinction helps when comparing exterior trim repair quotes. Ask whether the proposed work covers the existing material or removes it. Include a wider view of the area so we can see how it meets the wall and roof.
The two least detailed records remain in the table at their recorded prices. They help show this sample’s range, but they do not tell us enough to price a specific new repair.
About these prices
We reviewed 6 completed Mesquite jobs from Smart Fix records saved on September 20, 2026. Each job total matches its invoice or invoices. Each job counts once, including jobs with several tasks. Prices include parts and tax charged, after any credits or discounts.
The median averages the two middle prices after sorting. Dates use work-start records, with scheduled dates used where a work start was missing. Cities follow the job address records. Customer details stay private. These past prices describe our sample; new work needs its own quote.
