I’m Chance O’Shel, owner of The Smart Fix Handyman. We serve Garland. The repair is only part of the price question: what will the wall or cabinet look like when the work ends?
Some jobs below included paint and texture. One left those steps out. There is also a much larger commercial repaint, which helps explain the top of the range.
What did the jobs cost?
Ten of the 14 jobs were below $1,000. The median was $683.05, and the average was $1,088.64. Larger work raised the average above the middle of the sample.
| Recorded job price | Jobs in this sample |
|---|---|
| Under $250 | 1 |
| $250 to under $500 | 4 |
| $500 to under $1,000 | 5 |
| $1,000 and up | 4 |

Smart Fix records: 14 jobs, February 2 to September 17, 2026. Prices cover whole jobs.
Will the repair be painted?
These five examples include different finish levels and the sample’s largest job.
| Work recorded | Whole-job price |
|---|---|
| Install a supplied fan on an existing fan-rated box | $280 |
| Cabinet and wall repairs plus a $125 annual membership | $579 |
| Reinstall saved wall and cabinet panels, then finish | $853 |
| Wall-corner and baseboard repairs with finish work | $878 |
| Commercial two-tone wall repaint | $4,790 |
The $579 job replaced a cabinet bottom and patched the wall behind it. The new plywood was left unpainted. The wall patch was left without texture or paint, as requested.
That total also included a $125 annual membership. The repair work and materials came to $454 after savings. Keeping both parts visible helps you compare it with a repair-only quote.
The $853 job reused saved wall and cabinet panels, then included texture and paint work. The $878 job repaired a wall corner and baseboards in separate areas, with paint and caulk. These scopes were not all buying the same finished result.
For cabinet repairs or a wall patch, tell us if you want the surface left ready for the next step or fully finished.
What made the $4,790 repaint different?
The commercial job described a wall section 9 feet high and 180 feet long. It called for a clean two-tone paint line, with masking and cuts around doors and windows. Final touch-up and cleanup were part of the work.
The labor totaled $4,200, with $590 in materials. That is a long wall with a defined finish, rather than one small repair area. This one price cannot establish a rate for every room or wall in Garland.
Have a wide view of the space ready. Tell us which walls need paint and whether you want a color split or other details included.
What if you already own the new fan?
The $280 fan job used a customer-supplied unit and an existing fan-rated box. The scope covered assembly, connection and testing at the same location.
If the support or wiring needs to change, your ceiling fan quote needs to cover that work too. Owning the fan does not tell us whether the existing setup is ready for it.
