Which part of the deck needs work?
Two deck projects in this set covered different things. The $4,690 job replaced deck boards and perimeter railing. Materials included treated boards, rails and fasteners.
The $2,325 job focused on support work, with old wood removed and hauled away. It also included staining and sealing existing beams. Those are separate scopes, so subtracting the prices would not show the cost of a particular deck upgrade.
When you describe deck work, distinguish the walking surface from what supports it. Include views from above and below where you can do so safely. We need to review the actual condition before pricing a repair.
What pushed the largest project to $12,990?
The biggest job covered eight swing doors and seven bifold doors, along with extensive wall trim and door casing. Setup and cleanup were also part of the work.
That price belongs to a multi-door project. Dividing it by the number of doors would bury the cost of all that trim. If you need one door repaired, this is not a close price match. If you want several doors replaced, list each opening and say whether the casing is staying.
A shower repair can include the finish, too
The $855 shower job combined trim and nearby wall repair with fresh caulk, paint matching and small floor-chip repairs. A caulk-only quote would cover much less.
For caulking and sealing, point out loose trim or damaged surfaces near the joint. Ask which repairs come before the new sealant and who handles the paint. That helps you compare the finished result you want.
