I’m Chance O’Shel, owner of The Smart Fix Handyman. We serve Carrollton. This six-job sample includes both a $145 alarm move and a $3,083.30 commercial project.
The gap makes more sense once you see the work. For your own quote, the height, the parts being reused and the full task list matter more than one citywide number.
What did the jobs cost?
Three of the six jobs were under $500. The median was $433.75, while the average was $1,045.30. Two larger projects pull that average far above the median.

Smart Fix records: 6 jobs, May 22 to September 16, 2026. Prices cover whole jobs.
What made the commercial job larger?
The $3,083.30 job covered ceiling tiles and lights in several offices. Some work was 10 to 25 feet high. The scope also included covering the work areas, removing waste and cleanup.
Its three labor lines totaled $2,240. Materials added $843.30. This was more than swapping one ceiling tile or one bulb, so it would be a poor guide to either task alone.
If your work is overhead, show us the whole space. Include the ceiling height and anything below it that affects access. For a business, tell us whether the space will be in use during the work.
What was inside the $1,963.50 repair list?
The vanity work included sanding, a close-match stain and a clear coat. But the job also covered curtain rods, protection on a door, a loose towel holder and paint on a small shelf.
Some items came from the customer. Others were included in the job. That total cannot be treated as a vanity-only refinishing price.
For cabinet work, decide whether you need a working repair or a new finish as well. Then list any other work you want done during the visit.
When can an existing item be reused?
The $145 smoke-alarm move kept the same alarm. It assumed the wires would reach the new spot. A new alarm or new wiring would be a different job.
The $590 sink job also kept the main fixture. It reset an undermount sink and hooked up the plumbing, with $65 in parts. Show us the item and the damage around it. We can then check whether it can stay in use.
