What do small plumbing fixes cost?
Fourteen of the 40 plumbing jobs cost less than $250. Most were swaps with a part the customer already had, like a faucet, a garbage disposal, a shower head or a toilet.
Installing a customer-supplied toilet cost $150. So did replacing two shower heads. A washer drain that wouldn’t empty took under 30 minutes and cost $140, our one-hour minimum at the time.
Faucet swaps have their own guide. See our faucet replacement prices for all eight.
Why did sink jobs cost the most?
Sink work set most of the higher plumbing prices. Seven sink jobs ran from $402.50 to $1,075. They reset loose undermount sinks, replaced sink bowls or swapped out a cracked sink.
The top price, $1,075, replaced a cracked undermount kitchen sink through the cabinet. It took about seven hours, and labor was $980. Resetting a loose undermount sink cost $410.12 to $590. The drain work alone was $87.50 on one reset and $175 on another.
For sink and vanity work, tell us if the sink has pulled away from the counter or cracked. A photo from under the cabinet helps us see the drain.
What does a toilet or shower repair cost?
Toilet and shower prices varied a lot. Two customer-supplied toilet installs cost $150 and $678.25. The higher one listed a new wax ring, a new supply line, leveling and caulk at the base. Replacing a failed toilet flange and resetting the toilet cost $631.25.
Shower work ran from $148 for a handheld shower head to $755 for a supplied shower panel with trim. A shower valve cartridge cost $578. Installing a shower valve in a wall that was already open for a remodel cost $411.38.
What should you send for an accurate plumbing quote?
Send a photo of the fixture, the space under or behind it and any part you’ve bought. These details moved the prices most:
- The part you bought. Most jobs under $250 used a faucet, disposal or toilet the customer supplied.
- The sink and its drain. Drain work added $87.50 to $175 to the sink resets.
- Damage you can see. A cracked sink cost $1,075 to replace, and a failed flange brought a toilet job to $631.25.
- Outdoor faucets. Hose faucet repairs ran from $245 to $489.50.

Questions about DFW and Houston plumbing repair prices
About these prices
This guide uses 40 completed jobs from Smart Fix job and invoice records, pulled on October 20, 2026. Each price is the full job total from its invoices, including parts and tax we charged, after discounts and credits. A visit with several tasks counts as one job. We left out assessment-only visits and any job whose total did not match its invoices.
The median is the middle price once all 40 are sorted, so one large project cannot pull it up the way it pulls up the average. Dates use the day work started, or the scheduled day where a start time was missing. Cities follow the job address. Customer details stay private. These are past prices for real jobs, not a quote.
