A Dallas painting quote should tell you what happens before the first coat goes on. Two companies can name the same paint color and still propose very different amounts of repair and preparation.
Smart Fix publishes this guide and is included below. We checked the linked sources on September 20, 2026. These five options were selected for their published Dallas-area painting services and different job scopes. We haven’t hired or tested the other companies, so the order isn’t a workmanship ranking.
Five options for different painting jobs
| Company | Why to consider a quote |
|---|---|
| CertaPro Painters of Central and North Dallas | A painting-focused local franchise |
| Five Star Painting of Dallas | Residential painting with published warranty information |
| Dallas Paints | Painting and surface-repair services |
| Hank’s Handyman | Painting tied to a broader repair list |
| Smart Fix | Small repair-and-paint scopes with local project records |
CertaPro Painters of Central and North Dallas
CertaPro’s local office offers interior and exterior painting. It’s worth considering for a painting-led project where most of the work is coating the surfaces you want to keep.
Ask for an estimate that names the rooms and surfaces. Doors, trim, and ceilings should be included explicitly if you want them painted.
Request a local project similar to yours. A whole-house exterior and an occupied bedroom repaint have different access and scheduling needs.
Five Star Painting of Dallas
Five Star Painting’s Dallas office offers residential painting and publishes a two-year warranty. That written commitment is worth reading with the proposal.
Ask what failures are covered and what conditions are excluded. A duration alone doesn’t tell you how the policy applies to a previously damaged surface.
For a room repaint, have the company state the proposed paint product and sheen. That makes the bid easier to compare with another painter’s quote.
Dallas Paints
Dallas Paints lists interior and exterior painting, cabinet refinishing, and related surface repairs. It also describes itemized quotes with optional repair work identified separately.
That approach is useful if your walls need more than routine preparation. Ask which repairs are in the base price and which require approval as added work.
For cabinets, request the proposed coating process and a sample or completed local example. A cabinet finish needs its own scope; don’t assume it is included in a general room-painting price.
Hank’s Handyman
Hank’s includes painting within its home service offering. It is worth investigating when the paint work follows repairs elsewhere on your list.
Ask the estimator to separate repair labor from the painted area. That helps you see whether a second quote leaves out the carpentry or wall work.
Request the warranty terms for your project. We haven’t used an unverified blanket warranty period as a point of comparison.
Smart Fix
Smart Fix offers interior painting and related repairs. Our rate is $145 an hour with a $170 repair minimum. A phone or photo review is free; a $95 Smart Scan is an in-person assessment.
Our Dallas exterior door patch was recorded at $238.75 and included filling, sanding, and painting a small hole. It shows a limited repair-and-paint scope, rather than a whole-door or whole-home painting package.
For a large paint-only project, request quotes from the painting specialists too. Our hourly rate doesn’t establish the best total for every job size.
A paint match deserves a written expectation
Our documented Plano drywall and paint project noted that spot painting might not produce a perfect match. That is a nearby Plano example, not a Dallas job, but the scope question is useful wherever you’re comparing bids.
Ask each company whether it proposes painting only the repaired spot or extending to the full wall. If the difference will bother you, get the larger painted area priced before work starts.
Put the preparation in the quote
| Quote item | Detail to request |
|---|---|
| Surface repairs | Which cracks, holes, or damaged trim are included |
| Preparation | The cleaning, sanding, and priming proposed |
| Paint | Product line, color, and sheen |
| Coverage | The specified coats and how the finished result is checked |
| Protection | Furniture, flooring, and cleanup arrangements |
A low quote may reflect a smaller scope. Ask what accounts for the difference instead of assuming the painter is skipping steps.
Send Smart Fix photos of the repairs and surfaces you want painted if you’d like our scope to compare with a painting specialist’s bid.
