Some Dallas home problems need a short repair visit. Others grow into a project with design choices and several stages of work. A useful home-repair shortlist should help you tell those situations apart before you collect prices.
Smart Fix publishes this guide and is included. We checked the linked sources on September 20, 2026. These five companies offer different published approaches to repair and remodeling. We haven’t tested their crews, and the list isn’t an independent ranking.

DFW Improved
DFW Improved offers repair and remodeling services. Its kitchen remodeling page describes a design-and-build approach.
Include it when you need help defining a larger change, such as a kitchen layout or a room renovation. Ask which planning services are included in the proposal and when design fees begin.
Don’t assume it refuses every smaller job. Give the company your exact scope and ask whether it is a fit.
Hank’s Handyman
Hank’s advertises a free home walk-through. That can be useful when the list spans several rooms and the repair method isn’t clear from photos.
Before the visit, mark the problems that need repair and the improvements you would simply like to price. Ask for those groups to be separated in the proposal.
Request the warranty terms for your project. We didn’t use an unverified fixed warranty period as a reason to recommend the company.
Ace Handyman Services Dallas
Ace Dallas advertises four-hour and eight-hour labor packages. The offers are worth checking for a full list that can be handled in one visit.
Have the branch confirm the current price and conditions. Ask what happens when a task needs another visit or the list runs over.
A time package can be good value, but the amount of finished work still matters. Have the contractor identify what it expects to complete within the booked time.
DTX Handyman Services
DTX is another Dallas-area option for repair work. Its pricing page explains by-job pricing and assessment terms.
Ask for the complete quote for your scope. The general job-cost ranges on the site aren’t a firm price for your home.
If one part of your repair is uncertain, have the estimate distinguish known work from any extra work that requires approval. That makes a by-job quote easier to compare with an hourly estimate.
Smart Fix
Smart Fix charges $145 an hour with a $170 repair minimum. A phone or photo review is free; a $95 Smart Scan is an in-person assessment. Our Dallas page explains the local service.
A documented Dallas door project had a recorded price of $3,187. The work included a back door and hardware, two interior doors, and loose trim.
That example shows a defined repair list with several related tasks. It isn’t a remodel allowance or a price another company has agreed to match.
Repair, refresh, or remodel?
Before asking for a bid, write what you want to keep. Existing cabinets may need reinforcement while their doors and finish are still useful. A damaged door frame may need only a partial repair. Let the contractor explain the options.
If you want a new layout, ask for a plan before comparing installation costs. Drawings and material decisions can change the work enough that an early rough figure stops being useful.
For each proposal, check how the contractor will handle a change after work begins. You should know who can approve it and when you receive the added price.
Look for recent reviews about the same size of job. A good small-repair experience is useful evidence, but it doesn’t establish how a company manages a months-long renovation.
