Smart Fix is an option for a defined repair or installation. One of our Fort Worth cabinet jobs involved securing a tall upper cabinet and its top trim. The recorded price was $386. The homeowner’s need was a secure cabinet, which is a much narrower scope than a redesigned kitchen.
Here are three ways to frame the first call:
- Keep the room, fix the damage: describe the failed part and the finish you want restored.
- Keep the layout, change the finishes: list what stays and what gets replaced.
- Change how the room works: discuss drawings and the coordination needed before construction starts.
Both companies should be allowed to explain whether they can handle your scope. DFW Improved’s broader remodeling work doesn’t prove it turns down every small repair.
Read the estimate for what it leaves undecided
For a remodel, check the allowances for finishes and fixtures. Ask what happens if your chosen product costs more, arrives late, or changes the labor needed. Find out when you must make each selection.

Those details help explain price differences without assuming either contractor is overcharging.
