Ace Dallas is worth a look if you have enough work to fill half a day. Its advertised labor packages can cost less than the same hours at Smart Fix. A short repair is a different calculation, so start with the jobs you actually need done.
Smart Fix publishes this comparison and is one of the companies discussed. We checked the linked public sources on September 20, 2026. We haven’t hired Ace or tested its work; the advice below compares published terms and repair scope.

Ace Dallas’s office page says each package must be used in one visit. Materials cost extra, offers can’t be combined, and other conditions may apply. Check that the offer is still available and that your work qualifies before booking.
The arithmetic favors Ace by $105 for four hours and $245 for eight hours. Those are labor comparisons, not estimates for a finished job. Two crews may allow different hours for the same work. Supplies, shopping time, and a second visit can change the total.

Can your list use the whole package?
An eight-hour package looks appealing when your list includes several doors and a room’s worth of trim. It may be less useful for one sticking latch. Ask Ace how it handles unused time, work that runs past the package, and tasks that need a return visit.
Drywall makes that last question especially useful. A patch can need separate stages before paint goes on. Paying for a full day doesn’t, by itself, settle whether every stage fits that visit.
A real Smart Fix Dallas door project included a back door, hardware, two interior doors, and loose trim. The recorded price was $3,187. That completed job shows why a list of tasks tells you more than the word “handyman.” Its price reflects that scope and isn’t a quote for your home.
Send both companies the same photos and list. Have each mark what it expects to finish and what would carry over.
Warranty and weekend appointments
Ace Dallas advertises a one-year service warranty. Smart Fix offers a written one-year labor guarantee, subject to the terms for your job. Ask either company what happens if a purchased part fails or an old door shifts again; the cause of the problem matters.
Ace’s Dallas page also lists weekend visits by appointment. Don’t rule it out because of an assumption that a franchise only works weekdays. Contact both offices for an actual opening.
Smart Fix describes its employee model and coverage on our about page. For either company, confirm who will do your particular work and request current insurance documentation if you need it.
Which quote would we choose?
For a full repair list that fits Ace’s package, its published price is a sound reason to request a quote. For a smaller job, compare the minimum charge and the complete repair price. Smart Fix’s hourly rate alone doesn’t prove that we’re cheaper.
Before you accept either bid, look for one plain sentence describing the finish: “door closes and latches,” “patch ready for paint,” or “wall repaired and painted.” That sentence can prevent a lot of crossed wires.
